met ball 2012: the good and the bad

gwyneth paltrow in prada, cameron diaz in custom stella mccartney, rihanna in tom ford

i think all three of these dresses are beautiful. i’m especially glad gwyneth went short (as she has amazing legs) and that rihanna went long.

emma stone in custom alber elbaz for lanvin, jessica alba in michaek kors, camilla belle in ralph lauren

emma’s short dress is ridiculously cute! i love the shape and the draping on both of the other dresses, they look beautiful

karolina kurkova in rachel zoe, anja rubik in anthony vaccarello, carine roitfeld in ?? (if you know please tell me!)

karolina’s figure look unreal! and i think anja and carine’s flashes of skin really flatter without being too over the top.

lana del rey in custom joseph altuzarra, malin akerman in DVF, shailene woodley in modified christopher kane

love love love the cape and the dark lipstick. the jewel tones on shailene’s dress are beautiful too.

now onto the not so good…
kristen stewart in balenciaga, sarah jessica parker in valentino, florence welsh in alexander mcqueen

seriously, kristen, seriously. it’s a horrible fit, a horrible length and it just plain doesn’t suit her! SJP looks like a curtain and florence… oh, florence. why?

mary-kate olsen in the row, kirsten dunst in custom rodarte, alexa chung in marc jacobs

i know MK tends to go for the gothy look at these events but that dress makes her look like she’s about 2ft tall. it’s more halloween than anything else. i love kirsten’s jacket, but with the skirt it’s too much. as for alexa, i just don’t get it.

anna wintour in custom prada, chloe sevigny in miu miu, rachel zoe in her own design

i love anna, i really do, but the lobster with the fur really confused me. i detest chloe, always have, always will. sometimes she looks nice but this is a prime example of the opposite. whereas rachel zoe just looks washed out and that dress makes her look like she has no chest.

who did you like? or dislike? let me know!
