BEAUTY: The Fine Hair Series | Shampoo

Recently I asked on Twitter if you’d all like to read a beauty series based around fine hair, to which you all (well a bunch of you) said yes. So, I’m splitting this up into three parts: Shampoo’s, Conditioners/Leave-in Treatments and then Styling Products. Anyway, I’ve always had annoyingly fine hair, cursed with locks that get greasy quickly and just never have any volume on their own. It’s a pain, especially when you have Asian friends who have beautifully massive hair (curse you Jina if you’re reading this!) so I’ll go through the things I use to give my hair a bit more oomph and make it look less flat.

Shampoo is always a great place to start (obviously, cleansing your hair and all that) as they usually act like a bit of prep, making your styling products work better. I use a mix of high street and higher end, as I’m not as fussy with my haircare as I am with other beauty products. First up is Lush BIG Shampoo, which is a sea salt shampoo and one that I’ve repurchased so many times. Now, don’t expect this to make your hair huge, but do expect it to make your hair gloriously clean (but not in a too clean way) and give it a bit of a lift. I always describe my hair as ‘swishy clean’ when I use this, as that’s how it feels!

I can’t talk about haircare without mentioning B+B, so first is the wonderful Bumble and Bumble Surf Shampoo. I was late to the party with this one, but so glad I eventually got on the hype as it’s such a lovely shampoo! It gives your hair a bit more grip, while cleansing it and giving it a fresh feel. Perfect for the wash after a clarifying shampoo (favourites are Bumble and Bumble Sunday Shampoo or Lush I Love Juicy Shampoo). Next is Bumble and Bumble Seaweed Shampoo, which I class as a great every day formula. It’s light and gentle, but really refreshes hair and any products applied afterwards seem to work so well.

Finally, a new addition but a brand I really do love, Sexy Hair Big Sexy Hair Colour Safe Volumising Shampoo. Similarly to the Lush offering, it doesn’t make your hair huge, but it’s definitely an amazing one to have in your arsenal as it’s such a great shampoo! It cleanses, smells wonderful and again, products work so well when used in conjunction.

I’m sure there’s a billion more shampoo’s I could waffle on about, but they’re my top four that I’m loving to give my flat hair some lift. What do you use? Let me know!
