BEAUTY: Spring(ish) Makeup

Can we declare it Spring on my blog today? Despite the fact that it’s still rather chilly outside! I’m craving a fresher makeup look, lighter clothing and all of the nude shades right now. So, I’ve been trying to change my look accordingly, keeping my signature darker eyes, and this is what I came up with!

Starting with my base, the Clarins True Radiance Foundation has been one of my favourites to use recently just for the glow that it gives. If you like a truly glowy foundation, then have a wander to the Clarins counter! It offers medium coverage, long lasting (did me proud for a good 9hrs) and you can dust some finishing powder over for more of a satin finish, which is equally as nice! It’s nice to have skin that looks alive after a winter of a dull complexion!

Adding to the glow is the Smashbox Halow Highlighting Wand, which is a liquid/cream formula and easily blended onto the cheekbones. I really like the tone of this, as it’s quite natural and isn’t the crazy gold shimmers you get with some. Plus the brush applicator makes sweeping it on very easy!

On my eyes I’ve been using the Clarins Eye Quarter Mineral Palette in 03 Rosewood, which (as you can see) has a beautiful combination of pinky toned shadows. I love using the natural taupe shade all over the lid, patting some of the stronger rose shade in the outer corner along with the darker brown, plus the lighter shade as an inner corner highlight. Along with this, I went for a few coats of my favourite Clinique High Impact Mascara, as I wouldn’t be without it for more dramatic daytime lashes.

To match the soft tones, I opted for Stila Convertible Colour in Lilium, as it’s a really pretty pinky tone which gives cheeks a a subtle pop of colour. The cream formula is really long wearing too!

Finally, on my lips I lined them with MAC Lip Pencil in Naked Liner, as it just adds a really neutral base and makes colour stand out more. On top of this, I’ve been loving the NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Biscayne Park as it’s my favourite pinky-nude shade. The formula is long lasting, hydrating and perfects the lips (I think) and it’s a shade I reach for a lot when I don’t want the higher maintenance of a bright shade.
