Red lips for Christmas – groundbreaking, huh? But I, despite being a particularly un-festive person, do like to occasionally go all out with red lips and tips for the big day and I know a lot of you do to. So, in today’s post, we’re chatting about the best red lipsticks to look the part on Christmas day.

Starting with the top of the swatches, NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Majella has long been declared one of my best red lipsticks of all time. It’s just got the perfect balance of tones and wears for hours and hours. The satin finish it comfortable to apply and doesn’t dry out your lips like their matte range.

Next is a similar, but slightly darker shade, which is the beautiful Lipstick Queen Cupid’s Bow Lip Pencil in Ovid. I chatted about it here, but, similarly to the NARS option, it glides on like a dream and is oh so pigmented.

My most recent lipstick purchase is the stunning Illamasqua Lipstick in Vega, which I believe is one of their latest shades. It’s a gorgeous, vampy dark red with fantastic pigmentation and staying power. It applies well and makes a great alternative to traditional red hues.

For those who don’t want to go full on blood red, or don’t suit more blue-toned shades, MAC Lipstick in Lady Danger might be the perfect option. It’s more of an orange-red shade and is bright without being too in your face, which makes it a great all year round kinda tone. I was obsessed with it in Summer and may wear it today for a glamorous trip to Morrisons…

Finally, if you need a lipstick that will see you through present wrapping right to the last glass of wine in the bottle as you fall asleep on the sofa, then Sephora Lip Cream Stain in 01 Always Red will tick the right box. This stuff glides on well, but be careful when applying as once it sets, it will not budge! I do love the more matte finish on this and I literally cannot argue with the staying power – especially for how little it costs!

What red will you be wearing on Christmas Day? Or are you going for a different look?
