Hello! If you’ve got oily, combination or somehow shine prone skin then these products might be the ones for you! My skin tends to get shiny in my T-zone throughout the day, so I’ve been trying out a few new things to help combat that and keep my skin looking natural instead of something resembling an oil slick.
A primer does really go a long way into helping your foundation stay in place and acts as the first step in preventing shine. Benefit POREfessional has been my recent primer of choice, as it helps minimise any large pores and creates a smooth layer on the skin so your foundation goes on better.
As for foundation, for a semi-matte finish, I always opt for my favourite Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation applied with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. It’s a great medium-full coverage, but doesn’t look cakey or heavy and really stays in place for hours. As it’s so heavy duty, I find that it doesn’t really make skin too shiny throughout the day, either.
Finally, we all know powder makes a huge difference to how your makeup sits and is one of the main ways to reduce shine. Benefit POREfessional Agent Zero Shine is a new release from the Benefit team and aims to create an invisible finish, blurs imperfections and of course, makes shine disappear! The powder is a skintone shade and very fine, which both contribute to an even, velvety finish. It also comes with a little brush built into the bottom, so it’s very bag friendly if you want to top up on the go!
So, they’re the products I reach for if I’m wanting to keep shine at bay just using makeup! Of course, you can use a mattifying moisturiser underneath, such as Balance Me Balancing Face Moisturiser, just to add to the shine-free look.
What do you use to keep your skin looking matte or natural? Let me know!
