BEAUTY: Today’s Makeup #7

I don’t think I’ve ever shown my face this close up before. Well, ladies and gentlemen, there you have it. My face in all its closer-up-than-usual glory. It’s all in honour of showcasing today’s makeup look, of course. This was supposed to be a day-to-night look, but as I a) wear a lot of makeup during the day and don’t massively distinguish between the two and b) a red lip is king, I thought I’d just share one. You can class it as day or night as you wish, I’ll leave it up to you.

Starting with my base, I’ve been rather partial to the Hourglass Immaculate Foundation which, although rather pricey, is actually wonderful to use. It makes skin look smooth, even and, despite it being mattifying, it actually makes it look every so slightly radiant. A contradiction in terms, but hey, I don’t make the rules. I follow this with a touch (read: a crap load) of my favourite concealer: Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer which is one of my all time favourite ever. Ever. I added a bit of depth to my cheekbones with Benefit Hoola Bronzer (not pictured) and dotted some Stila Convertible Colour in Lilium, which is the most perfect natural cheek shade. I do adore those Stila cream blushes!

Now, onto the eyes which are the main focus of this look. I’ve found myself quite addicted to this Yves Saint Laurent Couture Eye Shadow Palette in Afrique. As a cool toned eyeshadow lover, this is a bit of a difference for me as it’s very much a warm, gold-pink-bronze kinda palette. Nevertheless, it’s beautiful and the shadows themselves blend like a dream. I used the bronze shade all over the lid, blending a bit of the darker purple hue into the crease and a small amount underneath the bottom lashes. Then, I took the lightest shade and highlighted my inner corner. Simple but effective. I finished it by adding a slick of Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner, then smudged in some Avon Supershock Gel Eyeliner (my favourite pencil) into my lashes aaaand finally added some Clinique High Impact Mascara, which is the best thing since sliced bread.

The lips are Bobbi Brown Creamy Matte Lip Colour in Red Carpet, which is one of my favourite reds. It could be worn with a nude lip if you fancy (NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Biscayne Park, as above, is my favourite), but that choice would be entirely yours.
