Finding your perfect pink lipstick can be a bit of a chore sometimes. I know that seems very #firstworldproblems but when you love makeup as much as I do, it’s a chore you simply have to embark on I think. I’ve been an avid lipstick collector for about ten years now and I still find new pink shades that I simply need in my life, so I thought I’d put together this little guide to help you in finding your perfect pink lipstick but also the different shades I think everyone needs in their lipstick wardrobe.
Rose Pink | My current favourite shade. Rose pink is perfect for Spring/Summer as it’s quite fresh and looks oh so pretty on. You can decide if you want to go more pink or more dusty-brown with this hue, too, so there’s quite a lot of variation in the shades, this is definitely a good starter shade! My favourites are: Tom Ford Lipstick in Indian Rose, Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Roomiest Rose, Sephora Lip Cream Stain in Pink Souffle and Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Walk of Shame.
Nude Pink | I’ve only recently got into nude pink shades as I realised nude doesn’t have to mean brown and there’s oh so many beautiful shades out there. A nude lip can take you from day to night too, so is perfect for throwing in your bag! My favourites are: NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Biscayne Park, Clinique Lip Pop in Nude Pop, MAC Lipstick in Brave, Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in Charmer, Charlotte Tilbury KISSING Lipstick in Bitch Perfect and Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel.
Berry Pink | I wear berry shades all year round as they’re super versatile and great at bringing a makeup look together. Plus, I think berry tones can flatter every skin tone too, depending on if you want to go bold or keep it subtle. My favourites are: MAC Lipstick in Craving, Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Broadest Berry and NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte or Vera.
Mid-Tone Pink | A super accessible shade, this is the standard pink that a lot of people go for because it doesn’t have to be bold or bright or too nude in tone, just your average ‘I’m wearing a pink lipstick’ kinda hue. My favourites are: NARS Audacious Lipstick in Anita, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in San Paulo and MAC Lipstick in Speak Louder.
Bright Fuchsia Pink | One of my favourite tones to wear is a good old bright pink. You know that gorgeous shade with the blue undertones that just pops? It’s one of my favourite shades to wear in S/S, so no doubt I’ll be doing more posts featuring these types of shades soon. My favourites are: Sephora Lip Cream Stain in Strawberry Kissed, NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Luxembourg, MAC Lipstick in Girl About Town and All Fired Up, Lipstick Queen Lipstick in Hot Rose Sinner and Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Electric Pink.
Subtle Light Balm Pink | If you’re not keen on a lipstick and prefer a glossy tone, then you may wanna opt for a balm style product that’s got a bit of pigment to it. I always have something like this in my bag to slick on when I’ve forgot to bring any other lipstick with me! My favourites are: Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector in Rose Shimmer, Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose and, although not strictly a balm, a bit of NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien with lip balm over the top!
What’s your favourite pink shade? Do you switch it up depending on the season or do you think finding your perfect pink lipstick is super easy?
