My Favourite Ruffles
Here we are again with another Helen vs post! I've previously struggled with high waisted jeans but I've battled my way through and learned to love them, so can I do the same with ruffles?
Short answer: yes. Well, to a degree. Part of me loves the over the top flamboyancy that ruffles can bring to an outfit. They can make you like some sort of dandy Victorian vampire but in the right kinda way, but, alas, I've always avoided them (especially in peplum styles) as I assumed they would add volume to my body that I didn't want.
I'm neither confident nor lacking in confidence in my body shape, but adding extra 'weight' is obviously not something I fancy doing on a regular basis. However, I saw this top on ASOS and it caught my eye. Ruffle... peplum... floaty... white... I added it to my basket expecting to hate it, but found I have become rather obsessed with the shape.
It adds a delicate element to an outfit, it's flattering, it doesn't add bulk like I expected and its floaty material makes me feel, dare I say, pretty.
Overall, I've decided that I can indeed do ruffles and peplum styles if the combination is right. Yet another one I can tick off my list!
