Neutrals - they seem to have had a bit of a thing over the last few years. I'm fully blaming the Kardashian's, MaxMara and Instagram for the rise in love for simple colour palettes and easy-to-wear hues. It took me a while to come round to loving neutrals as I would always go for black if I wanted to keep it simple, but those cream, tan, brown and white tones have slowly crept into my life and my wardrobe and, ladies and gents, I am here for it.
I love wearing lighter tones in Winter and on those darker days, as it helps brighten everything up without needing to wear a loud colour. I also love pairing neutral accessories with darker outfits to lift them a little. I think it's just so easy to wear these colours that it makes it simple to get dressed in the morning.
Onto my tips for adopting those neutral tones and my favourite styles in the shops right now...
1. A Head to Toe Look
A super simple way to dress! If you're feeling brave or aren't going to be eating anything messy that day, then one of my favourite looks is to wear all cream or beige. I recently picked up some beautiful Arket jeans and I'm excited to pair them with a chunky cream knit (aka my Instagram post here). Opting for a lighter pair of jeans with a camel knit and some brown or tan accessories is beautiful too.
2. Adding Accessories
If you're not feeling all light tones, then you can just add lighter accessories. A cream bag or some shoes in beautiful chocolate brown are both great ways to nod to the trend.
3. In The Detail
One way to add a very subtle hint to neutrals is with little details on an outfit. Tortoiseshell buttons, sunglasses, a cream scarf wrapped round the handles of a bag, cute earrings or hair slides work always look beautiful. You can also add neutral detail with animal prints, as snakeprint, leopard and
4. Colour Pairing
If you don't want to wear all neutrals, then adding some to your usual outfits works well. I think light and dark works well, so cream tones with dark navy always looks beautiful! Camel and khaki or green, black with literally anything or rich brown with pinks looks great too.
