I only realised recently how much of a crucial role eyeshadow plays in my makeup routine. Yes, that does sound quite dramatic, but has someone with hooded eyes, eyeshadow can really make a huge difference to how closed your eyes can look. I try to add a bit of depth to my crease to open my eyes, as well as a highlight tone in the corner to make me look more awake. So, here’s the lowdown on my favourite eyeshadow palettes…
Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani | The latest release from the makeup brand who can literally do no wrong when it comes to palettes. Seriously. This genius collaboration is with the legendary Gwen Stefani who I absolutely adored growing up, so I was excited to see what the palette would look like. When it was released I was so pleasantly surprised! Aside from the pink, every single shade is wearable for both day and night. They’re buttery soft as standard and a fantastic mix of matte and shimmer shades. I love this palette and have been using it so much as there’s a shade for every eye look!
Urban Decay Naked Smoky | I’m slightly late on the bandwagon for this one, but jeez am I glad it’s in my life. The latest ‘naked’ release, it houses 12 shades from champagne tones to the darkest charcoal in a range of finishes. The pigmentation on these shadows are insane – you just need to lightly tap your brush for such amazing colour pay off! I love creating smokey eyes, as the name suggests, with this palette so it’s a fantastic one to pick up if you like dramatic lids!
Laura Geller The Wearables | I talked about this palette in this post and I still rate it very highly. With five wearable (see what I did there) shades from taupe to gold, there’s something for everyone in this super makeup bag friendly palette. The shadows themselves are buttery soft, easy to blend and last all day.
Bobbi Brown Greige | One of my most used palettes over the last month or two, the neutral tones are ideal for so many different makeup looks. I love wearing the taupe shade all over the lid and darker one in the crease and, if I want to turn it from a day to night look, I just pat some of the glittery shimmer shade over the top – easy!
Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita | I should have taken a better photo of this (you can see it in a previous post here) but it’s such a pretty palette. I adore Charlotte Tilbury as she can do no wrong, but there’s something extra special about her eyeshadows. With four flattering shades including a champagne, a burgundy, a gold shimmer and a brown, it’s a great choice for a Christmas time!
What’s your favourite eyeshadow palette?
