As you may know, I’ve been feeling a little demotivated recently so I thought what better way to cheer myself up than reflect on what’s made me happy recently!
01 – Nice Candles | I don’t know what it was about the above parcel when I received it in the post, but it just made me so happy. From the bright packaging to the way it was all put together to the melts themselves, the Flamingo Candles The Melt Crowd Subscription Box was the best pick me up I could have got! There’s some seriously lovely scents in here too, my favourites are Mango and Dragonfruit, Thai Lime and Mango and Tropical Coconut Milk and Honey. Divine… and only £10 a month for eight of these beauties delivered directly to your door!
02 – Taking A Break | As some of you may have noticed, I took three days off blogging at the start of the week so there was a little gap in my posts. Recently, blogging has been getting me down as I feel like the whole landscape has changed so much since I started. No longer is it just a hobby or something fun where people share their thoughts, it often just feels like a massive competition where you need to constantly progress or you’ll get left in the dirt. The emphasis on numbers, shade been thrown around on social media and ‘how you should blog’ blogging ‘tips’ (if you can call them that, please ignore the bossy ones!) left, right and centre just wasn’t/isn’t something I want to be a part of. I just wasn’t feelin’ it at all, so I took some time out to refresh my perspective and refocus my aim with the blog. I put a lot of pressure on myself to produce content every day, so I’m planning to drop it down to six days (still high, I know) to give myself some breathing space and maybe reducing it to five in the future. I will always blog solely for my enjoyment and love of producing content and I just needed to remember that
03 – Baking | I’ve been baking a bit recently (I’ll include some on the blog soon!) and I’ve realised how much I love it. There’s been a few birthday’s recently at work, so I’ve been back in the kitchen whipping up some treats. I recently made these cookie dough sandwiches (I make them look better than the photos now though!) and, by the time this post is live, I’ll have made lemon drizzle cake and my first attempt at red velvet cupcakes for a leaving do!
04 – Finding New Recipes | My life basically revolves around food. I went out for my birthday and had a rubbish meal and it put me in a bad mood for the rest of the day. So, in an attempt to shift some weight and try more things, I’ve been trawling the goodfood website and others for some tasty recipes! I tend to go for ones that take 30mins or less. I really love these spicy chicken and avocado wraps and this curried sweet potato recipe, and I’m dying to try and make some tandoori chicken.
05 – Netflix Binges | Because my boyfriend and I work pretty much 12-13 hours a day every day, as he’s always so busy with pipdig and I have my full time job and then my blog, we’ve made a pact to switch off our computers at 9 or 10pm to watch something. I know this sounds a bit daft, but it’s the only time we have, really! It’s so nice to get away from a screen, spend some time together and watch something you can focus on which takes you completely away from work. We’ve recently binge watched all of The Walking Dead and can’t decide what to watch next – any suggestions?
What’s made you happy recently? Check out my nail polish blog sale – it’ll have to end soon!
