The Highlighter Roundup

Before this whole trend kicked off, I don’t think I really bothered with highlighters but now I can’t imagine doing my makeup without having a dewy, brightening sheen bouncing off my cheekbones. I still don’t have a huge array of them as it’s still a relatively new love for me, but I thought I’d share five of my current favourites if you need some glazed doughnut inspo.

My favourite of them all and most recent in my collection is the Benefit Watt’s Up! highlighter. It’s so easy to apply, you don’t even need a brush as you can blend it with your fingertips if you prefer, but it gives the most natural glow I think I’ve found so far. It’s a champagne-gold tone and blends so easily – I’m obsessed! Next is one of the most strongly pigmented one I own and, arguably, one of the most blogged about highlighters since this craze came about, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Illuminator in Peach Nectar. This is an almost rose gold tone and I tend to wear this one without blush as I think it’s got enough colour to do both jobs. It’s gorgeous though and gives you a real pop of shine!

If you’re looking for a high street highlight, then definitely get one of the Topshop Glow Highlighter Pot. Super creamy, super blendable, gives a beautiful light champagne glow (if you get the shade Polish) and doesn’t cost the earth – bonus! Another one that has gained a lot of coverage, though possibly not as much as Jaclyn Hill collab, is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in shade Opal. This has definitely got the best texture for me, it’s so soft – almost velvety – and a little goes a hell of a long way. I really love the gold with a hint of pink tone of this too.

Finally, we have a limited edition (sorry), but a product that’s often underrated. MAC Lustre Drops aren’t often raved about but they so should be as they’re very multi-use as far as highlighters go. You can use them on your cheekbones in the usual places, but also add them to foundation to give you overall glow (or just in the centre of your face). The shade I have, Pink Rebel, is such a beautiful pink-gold tone and the liquid consistency means it’s very easy to blend and to build.

What are your favourite highlighters? Any I should pick up?
