Things That Make Me Feel Good | Lifestyle Favourites

Happy Saturday! Can you believe it’s December already? I know everyone and their mother has said this, but this year has really flown by! People seem to really love December as it does give you the warm-fuzzy feels around Christmas time, so I’ve teamed up with The Feel Good Drinks Co to sit down and have a think about what makes me feel good recently so I can #SpreadFeelGoodness!

So, I’ll obviously start with their drinks. I’m not a big alcohol person and don’t really drink that often – maybe a glass of wine at a restaurant or if I’m at a wedding – so I’m really big on my soft drinks. The Feel Good Drinks Co have created a range of what I call ‘posh squash’ which you can have as an alternative to the bubbly this Christmas. I love all of the flavours, but orange and mango has to be my favourite so far plus they#re 100% natural, so that’s a lil’ added bonus.

Next are mince pies. I’m not an overly Christmas person – I can’t stand the music or films (apart from Home Alone and Die Hard), I hate the crowds and it’s the only time I’ll eat a Sunday dinner – but there’s a few sneaky traditions I do still like to embrace. My number one is mince pies. As you may well know if you read this blog regularly, I am dessert/pastry/sweet treat obsessed, so once the mince pies come into the shops I’m like a magnet to that spiced, fruity pile of deliciousness.

The items this festive treat is lying on is another thing that makes me happy. I’m one of those people who classes themselves as a big fan of reading, but never actually makes any time to read. I am, however, desperately trying to change that, so I’ve pulled out some books in my ‘to-read’ pile that I need to get through. I’m a huge, huge fan of bizarro-genre books, horror and general weirdness so next on my list is Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits by David Wong (his book ‘this book is full of spiders’ is beyond excellent, read it), followed by Hooray for Death by Mykle Hansen. I recently finished The Cannibals Guide to Ethical Living also by Mykle Hansen and it was so brilliantly written, slightly manic and perfectly witty, you must pick it up.

Onto the last little selection of good-feels. I’ve recently got back into my photos a little bit after feeling urgh about the whole thing and I’m blaming my new Canon M10 for that one. I still love my chunky DSLR, but this compact baby allows me to still use my lenses and connect to my phone so I can up my instagram game. I know that sounds so silly, but I do like taking photos so it’s important to me!

Finally, another subtle nod to festivity is a good red lipstick. I mean, I wear read all year round but there’s something kind of nice about donning a bold hue in Winter, especially near Christmas. My favourites have to be Lipstick Queen’s Cupids Bow Lipstick in Ovid, NARS Audacious Lipstick in Rita and Sephora Rouge Cream Lipstick in Belly Dancing – perfect shades!

What makes you feel good this time of year?
