Things That Make Me Happy #7

deep dish chocolate chip nutella cookie

I’ve had such an awful week. And by awful I mean awful. One of the worst I’ve had in a long time. So, in an attempt to cheer myself up, I thought I’d write something positive! Happiness in five little bullet points…

Baking | Despite being on a sugar ban, I’ve got right back into my baking. I’ve decided I’m allowed a sugary treat on a weekend, but only if I’ve baked it myself as it encourages me to try out new recipes and I know exactly what’s going in to what I eat. Recently, I’ve baked blueberry and apple crumble bars, chocolate chip banana bread and made my favourite deep dish cookie, using Nutella in the centre (which works just as well!). I’m going to master the perfect oatmeal raisin cookies next week and then remake the above for my blog!

Reading | I’ve actually ran out of books in my house, but whether it’s an article or a story I’ve been enjoying reading quite a bit recently. Sometimes it’s quite hard reading about things that are going on in the world, but it’s important that we do! Which reminds me: if you want to have your say on the NHS then you only have until tomorrow night to do so!

Winning | I wasn’t sure how to say that in one word without it sounding weird, but it is what it is. Not only did I win Best Longstanding Fashion Blog at the Bloggers Blog Awards (thank you!), I also won Best Looking Blog at the North East Blogger Awards. It was a lovely night, too, and I was so pleased to have won! I literally never win anything, so two awards in close proximity is such a lovely surprise.

Planning | Going against the norm here, but I’m not a big fan of Christmas. There, I said it. I hate the film Elf, I hate the crowds when shopping, I hate the music (Michael Bubbles is my most hated person next to Amanda Holden) and I don’t even like the dinner all that much (aside from roasties, stuffing and cranberry sauce cus my mum is the best at making those). However, what I do love is planning Christmas. A bit of a contradiction, I know, but there’s something nice about planning the right presents and my gift guides for this blog and what wrapping paper I’ll use. That stuff can stay.

Buying | Since I bought my Chloe bag this month, I’ve been broke (as you can imagine) so I’ve been planning payday wistfully for most of the month. I’ve got my eyes on some big fluffy jumpers, the Acne Jensen boots (though I doubt I can afford them!) and some giant blanket scarves. Roll on Friday!

What’s made you happy this week?
