I was originally going to call this post ‘camouflage’, as I thought I was going to blend into the brickwork behind me, like an actual snake. Luckily the photos have turned out with a slight distinction between myself and the wall, so I can chalk that one up as a success. This post was put together with a ‘Britain to Barbados‘ theme, hence the leather jacket and hat for unpredictable British weather. We all know the weather here is rather temperamental, don’t say I’m the only one who still carries an umbrella in my bag in July just incase?
Now, I don’t think I’ve ever worn a maxi dress, or anything near to it, on my blog, well… ever really. They’re not something I’m drawn to, being someone who is around the 5ft10 mark, as they typically all come up short. Or are too bodycon or have too much material and make you look five months gone, but this little beauty above fits the space inbetween the two quite nicely. The print is one that I’m quite partial to and the metal necklace-like detail around the top is quite a nice touch, too This may encourage a few more knee length and below sartorial pieces to edge their way into my wardrobe yet. We’ll just have to see, won’t we?
The shoes, however, have me completely converted. As a person who hates/detests/loathes feet, they weirdly had me wanting to get mine out as they’re just such a nice pair of sandals. I’ve had my eye on them since they were released at the start of the season and am so glad they’ve made their way into my collection. Plus, added bonus, they’re ridiculously comfortable and perfect for warm days where closed shoes are just a no-go.
Being a new toe-baring convert, I even found myself at the tills in Primark picking up some of those fake Birkenstock’s, just for the comfort level alone. Not sure if the ugly shoe trend has caught me unaware and I’m now firmly in its grasp, or I’m turning into a total grandma where comfort ranks superior to style. I haven’t quite figured out which yet.
Rambling aside, hope you’re all having a lovely week so far! I’ll be announcing the winner to my Dahlia giveaway on twitter this evening and via my next blog post.
