Hello! Spring usually brings lighter formulas, shades and overall looks, so I thought I’d have a rummage through my makeup bag to show you what things will be adorning my err.. face this Spring. I tend to go for lots of pinks, oranges, peaches and nude eyes so keep reading to see what I love.
To get rid of the Winter blues, I always try to make my base as radiant as possible, even if the weather is still a bit gloomy outside. Helping me do this is the wonderful Becca Radiance Primer (or cheap on Amazon here), which does add a huge amount of glow to the skin without looking shiny. Ontop of this I apply a pea-sized amount of Benefit Big Easy, which is one of my go-to bases of choice recently as it’s light but offers a decent amount of coverage. It’s easy to apply, as you can just use your fingers making it a great lazy day option.
For cheeks, as previously said, I love peach and pink shades so MAC Powder Blush in Peaches is a great option and one I always have in my Muji storage. I’ve used it for years and love the natural peach tone it gives skin – perfect for Spring! As for pink, Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks in Pale Pink is such a perfect shade. It’s a cream formula and so easy to blend, which is great if you want a more every day look (or you can built it up to be more bold!)
On my eyes, I tend to use more minimal shades and build up colour on my lips or cheeks instead. To do this, I tend to use soft colours such as Bobbi Brown Metallic Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Brown Metal, which is a gorgeous natural shimmery nude shade. As for other shadows, I tend to reach for my Stila In The Light Palette, as the shades are so versatile and are buttery soft.
Lip-wise, the lovely Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butter in Tutti-Frutti is the perfect bright Spring shade. It’s hydrating, as you’d imagine with ‘butter’ in the title, and has quite a perfecting effect when applied. The bright orange/coral shade is such a lovely colour! If the weather becomes warmer and my skin gets oiler throughout the day, a great option to take away the shine is Benefit The Porefessional Agent Zero Shine. It’s so handy to keep in your bag if you’re out for a day in the sun, as there’s a brush already included and is a great powder to use.
So they’re my top picks for spring as they’re all perfect for lazy days when it starts to get warmer and you can’t be bothered with a full face of slap! I especially love the primer and Benefit’s light base, they just work so well and are definitely worth picking up!
