BEAUTY: The Makeup Up Switch Up

Similarly to my recent post about switching up my skincare routine, I’ve been trying to go through my stash and use more of the products I own (plus test out some newbies!). I don’t have a giant makeup collection, but I do get stuck in the routine of using the same products so I’ll be doing one of these posts every once in a while as motivation to try something new!

Starting with base, I’ve been obsessed with the Smashbox Photofinish Pore Minimizing Primer as it really does what it says on the tin. It blurs all pores and imperfections, letting foundation glide over it perfectly without rolling or going weird (as some silicone-feeling primers can). I’ve really been enjoying using it! Over this, and I know I’m late to the bandwagon, the Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream has been one of my most used bases when I don’t want a heavy foundation. It still covers really well, but feels light on the skin and lasts for a good 8hrs too. Perfect for a no-effort makeup day as it blends so well!

On my cheeks I’ve been loving one of two products which have been revived from my stash. The Illamasqua Cream Blush in Rude is such a pretty coral shade with a hint of pink. It blends well and is buildable, so you can wear it as bright as you like! I like the lasting power of this one too. Alternatively, I’ll reach for the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Blissful, which is a brighter pinky tone. It’s flattering on the skin, despite being so loud in colour, as you can sheer it out as much as you like. I really like the Tarte blushes so need to use mine more!

On my eyes, I’ve been blending Clinique Chubby Stick Eye in Fuller Fudge across the lid and in the crease. It’s such a pretty bronze-brown-gold shade and perfect for an every day look! Sticking with Clinique, on my lips I’ve loved using the Clinique Chubby Stick in Two Ton Tomato, which is an amazing bright red. This is my first time using the chubby stick formulas, but I’m definitely a convert as I love the formula! Also on my lips, the classic Revlon Lipstick in Cherries in the Snow has been making a comeback, as it’s a gorgeous vibrant hot pink-red and one I love using in Spring.

Finally, to complete my look, I dust over some Antipodes Skin Brightening Mineral Finishing Powder. I love the Antipodes makeup range, as it’s really glowy without making you look shiny (that sort of lit-from-within look) and just feels so silky on the skin. I’d definitely recommend it!
