I’ve made it my mission over the past few weeks to narrow down the perfect Winter lip wardrobe. Ridiculous, I know, but berry tones and dark reds are literally my favourite shades as they really flatter my skintone. So, when brands bring out all of their shades around this time of year, I get insanely excited! I was gonna leave a lot of these purchases til London (I’m going this Fri-Sun) but I couldn’t wait, so here’s a little rundown of what I bought.
Starting with MAC, I had an unused eyeshadow to swap so decided to pick up a couple of lipsticks instead. I was after a dusty pink shade and I’ve had my eye MAC Brave Lipstick (top swatch) for such a long time now. It’s a gorgeous shade and one that I find really suits, as the paler pinks do absolutely nothing for me. I also got the cult MAC Diva Lipstick (4th swatch), as I’d been meaning to get it since around April but never got round to it! It’s a dark, berry-red and is actually really wearable, despite how dark it looks in the tube.
I went a bit crazy with NARS, so I’ll run through my lip pencil selection first. The first one I went for was a very dark shade which is NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Train Bleu (3rd swatch), not the most accessible of berry shades but a beautiful one nonetheless. I saw this image online and was determined to get it as it looks gorgeous! Next was a purely Suzie inspired purchase, the beautiful NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Mandore (5th swatch). It’s more of a brown toned dark red, which isn’t something I’d usually got for, but it’s honestly so pretty and much darker than the swatch makes out (see it on Suzie here).
Finally, I got on the NARS Audacious Lipstick hype and picked up two (to start with!). First was NARS Audacious Lipstick in Rita (2nd swatch), which is mid-toned red but not your typically cherry shade. It’s slightly darker and just perfect! Think it might be my new staple red tone. Finally, my favourite lipstick of the bunch and one I’m sure I’ll be glued to all Winter, the NARS Audacious Lipstick in Charlotte (bottom swatch). It’s honestly the most beautiful berry shade, think rich and jewel toned x100 and you’ve got it. I honestly can’t fault it as it’s pretty much the shade I’ve been searching for forever!
