Confession: I didn’t used to like banana bread. To be honest, I’m still not a fan of bananas but there’s something so completely delicious about chocolate chip banana bread and I can’t get enough of it. It’s so easy too, like, literally foolproof. Keep on readin’ for the recipe…
Ingredients:
225g self raising flour
175g caster sugar
1tsp baking powder
2 eggs
2 bananas, mashed – wait til they’re overripe as it’ll taste better
2 tbs milk
100g unsalted butter
chocolate chips, I used around 200g (or two packets of Tesco ones)
How To Do It:
Step One: Preheat oven to 190 degrees. Line your loaf tin with baking parchment. Measure out and combine all of the ingredients, apart from the chocolate, with a handheld mixer. Tip in the chocolate chips and mix with a wooden spoon or a few short bursts of the mixer.
Step Two: Pour this evenly into the loaf tin and bake for 1 hour in the middle of the oven. It should be golden brown on the top. Wait for it to cool before cutting, or just shove your face in it like I do. It should last around 3 days, but I guarantee it won’t last more than a day tbh. Now I need to make another batch of chocolate chip banana bread…
So there you have it. It’s only 10 minutes prep time for the most delicious cake that even the most self-proclaimed hopeless baker can throw together! It might even convert you to bananas like I did with me – though it’s definitely the chocolate that makes it. Do let me know if you make this Chocolate Chip Banana Bread or any of my other bakes – I’d love to see your pics.
